29th Early Connections Conference: Taking Care of Our Children…Taking Care of Ourselves.

 

April 28, 2012

 

This annual conference offers a unique opportunity for parents of children with visual impairments (birth-7) and professionals to come together to both learn new information and to network. This year’s topics include iPad applications, feeding issues, the expanded core curriculum, low vision aids and adaptations, orientation and mobility, dealing with stress, and cortical visual impairment.

 

The conference offers an opportunity for parent to parent networking around specific eye conditions, grandparent to grandparents and professional to professional support groups.

Lunch and childcare are provided.

News from Kids Space-

The after school program for blind elementary and high school students takes place at the Tobin Community Center, Boston MA 3-6pm

  • Students can participate in: arts and crafts, theater, Tae Kwon Do, sports, producing a radio show, visits to museums, and computer training.

Beyond Stocks and Bonds: Career Options at Fidelity      

This program is open to middle, high school and college students who are blind and visually impaired.

 New Website Resource:  A support group for parents with kids with microphthalmia and/or anophthalmia -http://www.maparentsupport.com/

 

Hadley School for the Blind has a new on-line  course "Parenting Children with Multiple Disabilities" which presents skills and techniques for furthering development in a child with multiple disabilities. This course is available in large print and, online and is tuition-free.
